What is shooting from the hip?

When I was growing up in the south, I had a country grandmother. When I say country, I meant it in a good way. She would wake up in every morning  to go gardening in her yard. Afterwards, she would go sit on the porch and talk to the neighbours. My granny was known for “telling it like it is” or “shooting from the hip”. What that means is that you are just being blunt about whatever the issue or person you are dealing with. Now, as I talk to my friends and family they always would tell me. “You are so harsh sometimes.” In my eyes, I’m only telling the truth. We all the know that the truth hurts but its done out of love. Now, in the present times, there is no such thing as grandmother or big momma to call you out “when your slip is hanging.” *oh my I’m showing my age*.  The average grandmother is in their forties. NO MORE big momma who would give you beatings and  blessings. These type of people are needed in the society we live to call people out on their wrongdoing and to school the young people on the right way to act in public. In homage to my grandmother, I going to  be shooting from the hip and giving to  you straight like a shot of MOONSHINE. So the origin of my blog is telling the truth how I see it. Some of you may not agree with my views all the time but if I get you to think about your stance on the issue  then I  had accomplished my mission!
